學校學科專業齊全，涉及工、理、文、經、管、法、醫、教育、藝術等九大學科門類，基本覆蓋了河北省的傳統優勢產業和高新技術產業。設有18個學院，74個本科專業，其中30個為河北省名校熱門專業，理工、文史類專業全部在本科一批招生；有16個碩士學位授權一級學科，涵蓋92個碩士學位授權二級學科，7個專業碩士學位授權類別，16個工程碩士專業學位授權領域，具有在職人員以同等學力申請碩士學位授予權；有6個國家級特色專業建設點，14個省級品牌特色專業，7個省級本科教育創新高地，9個省級重點學科，1個省級重點發展學科。
學校擁有“省部共建國家重點實驗室培育基地——河北省藥用分子化學重點實驗室”和“石家莊國家生物產業基地生物制造公共實驗中心”，是科技部主持的“抗生素產業技術創新戰略聯盟”和“維生素產業技術創新戰略聯盟”盟員單位；建有9個省部級重點實驗室和工程技術研究中心，即：國家環境保護制藥廢水污染控制工程技術中心、河北省污染防治生物技術實驗室、河北省藥物化工工程技術研究中心、河北省生產過程自動化工程技術研究中心、河北省現代集成制造工程技術研究中心、河北省發酵工程技術研究中心、河北省紡織服裝工程技術研究中心、河北省固體廢棄物資源化工程技術研究中心、河北省材料近凈成形技術重點實驗室；建有河北省軟科學研究基地、河北省哲學社會科學研究基地、河北省服務外包人才培訓基地；建有化工制藥實驗教學示范中心和環境科學與工程實驗教學中心2個國家級實驗教學示范中心；建有生物科學與工程綜合實驗教學中心、化工制藥基礎實驗教學中心、生產過程自動化綜合實驗教學中心、機械電子工程實驗教學中心、工程訓練中心等省級實驗教學示范中心；此外，河北省分析測試研究中心、河北省高�；ぶ性嚮�、全國CAD培訓網絡二級網點等機構和河北省工程圖學會等十幾個省級學會也設在我校。
學校緊密結合地方經濟建設需要，加強產學研合作，積極組織多學科聯合攻關，逐步形成了以應用研究和開發研究為主，兼有基礎研究的科研工作格局。近五年來，共承擔國家“973”、國家“863”、國家自然科學基金、國家社科基金等國家級課題70多項和其他縱橫向課題2000項，到�？蒲薪涃M連年遞增；獲省部級獎勵81項；取得鑒定成果513項；獲得具有自主知識產權的專利成果266項，專利申請量和授權量名列省內高校前茅，是“河北省知識產權培訓基地”和“河北省知識產權優勢培育單位”。
學校始終堅持以人才培養為中心，切實推進個性化教育改革，注重實踐創新教育，努力為地方經濟建設和社會發展培養基礎扎實、知識面寬、適應性強、德智體全面發展、具有創新精神和實踐能力的高級應用型人才。2007年，學校以“優秀”成績通過了教育部本科教學工作水平評估�，F建有國家級教學團隊2個、國家精品課程2門、國家級實驗教學示范中心2個，國家級雙語教學示范課程1門。近五年來，學生在全國“挑戰杯”競賽、大學生節能減排競賽、大學生數學建模競賽、電子設計大賽、航空航天模型錦標賽（科研類）、德國“紅點設計大獎”等多項活動和競賽中，共獲國家級獎勵240余項、省級獎勵290余項，獲獎數量、層次均名列省屬高校前茅，其中全國航空航天模型錦標賽（科研類）上，我校連續多年穩居獎牌榜首位。在中航工業杯國際無人飛行器創新大獎賽中獲創意類一等獎。我校代表國家參加英國國際大學生飛行器設計大賽，榮獲電動組項目冠軍，并獲該賽事唯一一項最佳設計獎。我校畢業生受到用人單位的歡迎，本科畢業生一次就業率連續10年位居省屬高校前三名。
學校積極實施對外開放辦學戰略。與美國、英國、加拿大、韓國、澳大利亞、新西蘭等23個國家的102所大學和科研機構在人才培養、教師培訓、科學研究、學術交流等方面開展了實質性合作。 目前我校獲批中外合作辦學項目4個，與韓國誠信女子大學服裝與服飾設計專業、新西蘭懷卡托大學金屬材料工程專業、澳大利亞聯邦大學環境科學專業三個本科層次教育項目，以及與韓國祥明大學合作舉辦的工業設計工程專業碩士研究生教育項目。中外合作辦學項目在數量和層次上，都位居河北省前列。

Hebei University of Science and Technology was founded in1996 by incorporating former Hebei Institute of Chemical Technology and Light Industry, Hebei Institute of Mechano-Electric Engineering and Hebei Textile Staff & Workers University. It is one of the key multidiscipline universities of Hebei and the demonstration school of College English Teaching Reform of the Ministry of Education.Hebei University of Science and Technology covers an area of1,653,000 square meters, of which 853,000 sq.ms. is the building section，twith graceful and comfortable campus surroundings, advanced eaching equipments and perfect teaching effect.
The university is a provincial whole with the 9 disciplines --- engineering, sciences, arts, economics, management, law, medicine,education and fine art. At present, the university has 18 colleges, 63 specialties for undergraduates and 93 disciplines with the right to award MA (16 authorized fields for Engineer Master). The university now has 2461 staff members, including 669 professors and associate professors, 16 doctoral advisers and 380 MA tutors. The university takes on the Chinese Training Course for foreign officers and students. It has accepted students who come from South Korea, Japan, Canada,Britain, the US, France, Germany, Greece, Cameroon, Ghana, and some other countries to study Chinese and relevant majors. The teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in the university is very normative: reasonable curriculum, flexible teaching methods, and thecolourful extracurricular activities, which is very popular with foreign students. In The Thrid Chinese Skills Contest for Foreign Teachers and Stdents in Hebei province, the student Patrick from Cameroon achieved first prize in speech and second prize in performance.
The university is located in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, which is the centers of politics, economy, technology, finance, culture and information in Hebei province. Shijiazhuang is the transportation hub of Chinese rail-way and superhighway. only 280KM south to Beijing, the capital city of P.R.C., so the transportation is very convenient.There are many humanity landscapes and natural sceneries around the city, and Chinese mandarin is the normal communicaiton language in the city.
